Roblar Winery Wedding

Sandra and Johannes's wedding was set perfectly at the end of a warm weekend in September.  This sweet couple travelled all the way from London to say "I do" in true California style under a stately oak tree against a backdrop of budding green grapevines, surrounded by close family and friends.

Sandra chose a beautiful color palette of burgundy, shades of purples, fresh green and a touch of cream to compliment and subtly enhance the all ready stunning natural setting that they were getting married in.  Roblar Winery in the Santa Ynez Valley is the perfect mix of rustic wooden buildings, rows of grapevines interspersed with large oak trees and lush wisteria vines climbing over top the intimate outdoor seating area.  In balance with this we kept the florals simple and let the beautiful fresh oak branches dictate the wild branching style of the mason jar aisle accents and centerpieces.

Sandra's one request was petite hellebores in her bridal bouquet, and I was thrilled when I was able to get my hands on a beautiful mix of purple, green, and cream hellebores begging to be admired each for their own unique color and pattern.  I love hellebores and so does Sandra and her bouquet is one of my favorite to date, I could not have been more happy to have created it for a lovelier person and the images that Jonathan Roberts of Bluephoto captured of her with her bouquet has my heart skipping a beat this morning!

Also included in the bouquets are local cream blush garden roses, burgundy ranunculus, viburnum berry, pieres buds, white larkspur, white anemones, and dark purple scabiosa blooms. Her bridesmaids carried gatherings of white blooms including white larkspur, white tulips, queen annes lace, lisianthus, garden roses, and accented with petite chocolate cosmos and blue viburnum berries.

Another unique touch that I loved about this wedding were the tulips and queen annes lace that we intentionally incorporated into everything in a nod to Johannes's Dutch heritage and to England where they met, fell in love and now currently live.  It's these small details that I love adding to each couples wedding to make it unique, personal and memorable, and I love how these two unassumingly popular flowers held a sweeter meaning for this perfect couple.

Just a few more gorgeous photos from the talented Jonathan Roberts and a special thanks to Roblar Winery and Elizabeth for her coordination, beautiful venue, and efficient staff.  And to Dawn from Decadence who created a classically simple naked cake accented with an abundance of fresh berries and flowers.

And finally hugs and thanks to this beautiful couple that was a joy to work with even from afar. This sweet couple stopped by the day after the wedding to thank me again and my big dog (normally rather shy and hesitant) instantly connected with them, and the next half hour found Johannes sitting on the floor while Remy shamelessly begged for more belly rubs.  This couple was such a blessing to me and I'm so glad to have been invited to be apart of their beautiful intimate day in my favorite expression of flowers.  Thank you Sandra and Johannes and many wishes for a beautiful marriage and happily ever after!
